Thoughts on Br*tish people?

I like Christopher Eccleston, specifically because he called Queen Elizabeth the parasite in chief in her idiot hat
.
Thoughts on $PWD
• from77b97c1def4d33eb
It's nice, but I keep forgetting it exists. The $PWD
variable also has the behaviour that /bin/pwd
should have - give me the logical pathname without resolving symlinks. Thankfully pwd
seems to be a builtin on basically every shell, although I bet there's still some ancient script floating around somewhere that relies on the old /bin/pwd
behaviour...
I went to 4chan's /g/ board and I internalized a bunch of shitty opinions regarding technology, what do you think will help fix me?

Gentoo Linux and gay sex.
What mildly interesting things are we talking about?

I don't want to give away too much of a hint, but have a glance at the HTTP response headers to see how the system works, and then see if you can send back anything out of the ordinary.
Anyways yeah I’m in the “systemd is fundamentally flawed” camp and also the “systemd is a tool used by Red Hat and other big Linux vendors to homogenize the Linux ecosystem” camp and also the “Poettering is a useful idiot and kind of an asshole camp”
• from9830232e8ad1b6a4
Yeah, I don't particularly like systemd either, or Poettering's software opinions for that matter. Systemd has a few good things going for it - it has a nice command-line interface, the cron
replacement is a lot more useful, and I like that it can be used to manage services for individual login sessions, not just system-wide services. But it is way too monolithic, and it flies in the face of customization and software freedom. Basically everything requires it for something or other, and you can't easily swap out many parts of it for alternatives that you prefer.
Oooh cookie time

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with these or use some other ID system. Someone suggested tripcodes, which might be neat. I'd just have to figure out the UX so that people don't put in easy-to-guess strings, or think it's an access control mechanism.
Thoughts on the?
• from91e6804d1feaa693
It's overrated and lame. Like, come on. #1 most popular English word? Still??? Come on, grandpa, it's not 1066 C.E. anymore. You'll never be tubular with that ancient vocabulary.
Wait I thought you were against eating Penguins :(
• frome59d44eb7138b214
Well, yeah, but if you're determined enough to fly all the way to Antarctica just to get your hands on some juicy penguin meat, I don't think I can stop you.
What is the best way to eat penguins?
• frome59d44eb7138b214
I don't know. I'd imagine you'd cook them in essentially the same way as chicken or any other white meat?
Idea: systemd suite ported to KNOTS (is it Knots or KNOTS) by rewriting it entirely in Lisp, with a faithful recreation of every privilege escalation bug. And with the POSIX components it needs to “work”
Oh god that would be so cursed, I love it (Also, yeah, it's KNOTS in all caps.)
> Ah, sorry, I thought you were the same person as before
it's all good, i should have read a bit more of the backlog :hugs:
Yeah, it's just a boundaries thing. I'm fine with lewd jokes and questions on here, but I don't want to engage in, like, actual online sexual activity on my public mailbox page.
How does this mailbox system work? Messages get sent to you via email but how do you post replies to the site?
Messages get sent to me via e-mail and stored in a SQL database, I then SSH into my server and run a script to add my response to the database.
i'm watching one of your archived streams and you have a cute voice
Thanks! Those streams are pretty old though lol, I've been meaning to stream more but I'm busy a lot lately.
